In conversation with Reese and Molly Blutstein.

We sat down for breakfast in bed with Atlanta-based content creators and fraternal twins, Reese and Molly Butstein, about their routines, favorite bedroom pieces, and why little details matter.

Two people sitting on a bed, each holding a newspaper that covers their faces. Both are wearing long-sleeved shirts. A breakfast tray with food and utensils sits on the bed in front of them.

What's your favorite thing about returning home?

MB: Honestly, just being surrounded by the things I love. You know, all the things in my space. Just looking around and seeing all of my comforting pieces. And also my specific space, the sunlight in there, it brings me so much peace.

Two women with long brown hair sit on a bed under white blankets, each balancing a gray mug on their head. One wears a blue shirt while the other, in brown, raises a hand and looks toward the camera.

A person sits cross-legged on a bed, reaching for a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon on a tray. Nearby is a mug of tea, utensils on a napkin, and another tray with scrambled eggs, avocado, and cheese on toast.

What's your secret to making ordinary things feel extraordinary?

MB: Tuning into the details. Even thinking about a morning, like if I am waking up in the morning, and I pay attention to the sounds of the birds or the sun on my bed or the smell of coffee, whatever it is. Those little things where if you're not paying attention to it, it kind of just goes into the background. But once you start paying attention to it, it’s like wow, this is really nice.

RB: That goes for interior, like any detail, a small thing where you're like, oh my gosh. That's what makes the whole space work. What makes the morning nice is when you have this nice little ritual of coffee, or going on a sunny walk, [it’s] just always the little things for me. That’s what excites me in life. Just waking up for a coffee is what excites me. [I think about it] the night before. A small detail like that is [...] everything.

Two women with light skin and long brown hair lie side by side in bed under a white blanket, each holding a white mug. They look relaxed and calm, gazing softly at the camera.

Do you believe in having a routine?

RB: Yeah, to a certain extent. I feel like when you get into a routine, you're like, I want out of this. But once you leave it, you're like, oh, I crave my routine. I want back into it. There's something comforting about knowing what you're going to do. And how you're going to set up your day. You know, every day is a little bit the same, and then you get to veer off of that. But knowing the beginning of the day is going to be similar, there’s something comforting about that.

MB: And I feel like there's a hopefulness in the morning where you're like, okay, anything can happen. So let's set that good vibe.

What's your favorite item in your bedroom and why?

RB: Oh, I have this dresser from the 1800s. It's a really deep, dark, raw wood. Primitive, but also slightly English. It has spindle legs, I love it so much. The doors don't slide. They squeak. But it's beautiful. I just love that it’s an old piece that someone may have made in their house, so long ago. I don't even know the story behind it, but I just love it. It has a really nice smell to it. That's my favorite piece. You can tell it was handmade, and I just love that. Even the fluted wood on the top, I love it.

White sheets or colored sheets and cotton or linen?

MB + RB: White cotton.
